Service Membership

From a small monthly fee

Ongoing access to the service(s) you need — automotive, property & grounds, tutoring — on a regular cycle. Tiered, so you pick the level that fits.

Full Member

$100 joining + $5/month

Everything above, plus one vote in how the Community Fund is used. The joining contribution can be paid off a few dollars a week; the monthly part is waived while you're on a paid service membership.

A person can be all three at once. Contributions to Full Membership are not an investment product and carry no promised return — see the Community Fund below.

More than one service? Take 15% off the lot.

A household on two or more service tiers pays the combined price minus about 15% — one payment, one point of contact. For example, standard Grounds ($35^*) plus weekly tutoring ($160^*) works out around $165/month instead of $195.

Labour hire is charged hourly ($44/hour), with a retainer rate for regular ongoing crews — it's a business service rather than part of the household membership. Enquire here.

Full membership

The Kaha Tahi Community Fund

Kaha Tahi Membership is a membership programme — like belonging to a club or a co-op — run by Kaha Tahi Ltd. Alongside it sits the Community Fund: a ring-fenced pot inside the company's accounts, funded by the part of contributions left after programme costs, by any trading surplus we choose to put in, and by grants and koha.

$100 joining contribution — payable up front, or built up at $5–$10 a week with full membership from day one.
$5 / month ongoing (or $50/year) — waived while you hold a paid service membership.
One vote, the same as every other member, regardless of how much you've put in.
You stand for and elect the Members' Advisory Committee, which reviews the Fund's accounts and recommends what it backs.
The Fund provides grants and hardship assistance, pays for shared tools, training and our housing-first work, and can invest in members' own work and enterprises — with the membership voting on anything significant.
The Fund only ever does business with members.

Your contribution is not an investment product. It earns no interest and carries no promised return, and you have no right to get it back. If you leave, you can ask for it back — the directors may return some, all or none, at their discretion and depending on what the Fund can afford. It's a members-only mutual fund, not a bank or a savings scheme, and we don't take a cut for admin. We're building toward a member-owned credit union or community trust — that's when regulated saving and investment begin.
